General Questions

About brokers and the process

An insurance broker like me works with multiple carriers — 30+ in my case — instead of representing a single insurance company. That means I shop the entire market on your behalf and recommend the carrier that best fits your situation. Captive agents can only sell what their company underwrites, so they're limited in what they can offer you.
Nothing extra. Brokers are compensated by the carrier when a policy is placed — you pay the same premium whether you go to the carrier directly or through me. The difference is you get advice, choice, and ongoing advocacy at no additional cost.
For straightforward auto and home quotes, I usually have options back to you within 1 business day. Commercial insurance can take 2–3 business days depending on complexity. Either way, I'll set clear expectations on timing during our first call.
Yes — I'm licensed across all of Ontario. Most of my work is done by phone, email, and video meetings, so location within the province isn't a barrier.
Yes, fluently. I serve clients in English and Arabic with equal care. Insurance is complex enough without a language barrier.
Auto Insurance

Car insurance questions

Not necessarily — and often it goes down. I'll review the cancellation terms of your existing policy and only recommend switching if the savings or coverage improvements are clearly worth it.
A few of the most effective levers: bundle with home/condo (10–25% savings typical), increase deductibles, take advantage of telematics programs, ensure all eligible discounts are applied, and shop carriers regularly.
Absolutely. New drivers benefit most from broker access — premiums vary widely between carriers for someone with limited driving history, and most new-driver penalty structures phase out faster than people realize.
In Ontario, all auto insurers are required to offer a winter tire discount when you install winter tires from approximately November to April. The exact savings vary by carrier (typically 2–5%).
Home & Property

Home, condo & tenant questions

Replacement cost pays out what it costs to replace damaged items with new equivalents. Actual cash value (ACV) factors in depreciation. Replacement cost is almost always worth the small premium difference.
In most parts of Ontario today: yes. Many of the worst home claims in the last decade have come from water — sewer backups, overland flood, sudden plumbing failures.
The condo corporation's master policy typically covers the building structure and common areas — not your unit's contents, improvements, personal liability, or additional living expenses.
Yes, even though many renters skip it. Tenant insurance covers your personal belongings (the landlord's policy doesn't), liability if a guest is injured or you accidentally cause damage, and additional living expenses.
Business Insurance

Commercial insurance questions

Almost always yes. A single liability claim — even one that's ultimately not your fault — can cost tens of thousands in legal defense alone. Many landlords, clients, and government contracts also require proof of commercial coverage.
CGL is the foundation of most commercial programs. It covers third-party bodily injury, property damage, and advertising injury claims arising from your business operations. It does NOT cover damage to your own property (that's commercial property) or professional advice (that's E&O).
CGL covers bodily injury and property damage. Professional Liability (Errors & Omissions) covers claims of negligent advice, missed deadlines, or failure to deliver — essential for any business that gives professional advice or delivers professional services.
